Rajya Sabha Chairman Declines Motion Seeking Removal Of Chief Election Commissioner

Members have been informed that a formal notice of motion dated March 12, 2026, was submitted to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. The motion was endorsed by 63 Members of Parliament.

The proposal sought the removal of Gyanesh Kumar from his position as Chief Election Commissioner of India.

It invoked provisions under Article 324(5) read with Article 124(4) of the Constitution of India.
