In an interview with ANI, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating that he anticipates Modi to lead the government for a third term and beyond. Singh highlighted Modi’s role in enhancing India’s global stature and suggested that the public’s support for him remains strong.
Singh also projected optimism for the BJP-led NDA in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, aiming for over 400 seats. He reiterated the party’s target of securing 370 seats for the BJP alone. Furthermore, Singh asserted the BJP’s anticipated success in Karnataka and expected a strong performance in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where efforts to form a government in the 2026 assembly elections are underway.

Responding to political defections to the BJP, Singh welcomed new members into the party fold, emphasizing that the BJP operates on ideology and welcomes those who align with its vision for a developed India.
Recent additions to the BJP from Congress ranks, including Ashok Chavan, Gourav Vallabh, Vijender Singh, and Naveen Jindal, were noted. The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled in seven phases starting April 19, with results expected on June 4. Under Modi’s leadership, the BJP has secured consecutive victories in past Lok Sabha polls, with a notably expanded majority in 2019.
