Rajeshwar Singh Hails Sarojininagar EV Bus Plant As Turning Point For Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh celebrated a major industrial milestone on Friday with the inauguration of its first electric bus manufacturing facility in Sarojininagar.

The state-of-the-art plant, developed by Ashok Leyland, was officially launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy.

Key Takeaways: Investment, Jobs and Green Mobility

Dr Rajeshwar Singh, MLA of Sarojininagar, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, describing the factory as a decisive moment in Uttar Pradesh’s industrial history.

He emphasised that the establishment of the EV bus plant would not have been possible without the Chief Minister’s visionary leadership, strong political will, and investment-friendly policies.

“The state once known for industrial migration is now emerging as a national hub for green mobility, high-tech manufacturing, and Make in India initiatives,” Dr Singh stated, highlighting Sarojininagar as a living example of this transformation.

The facility, developed with an investment exceeding ₹1,000 crore, will initially produce 2,500 electric buses annually, with plans to scale up to 5,000 units in the coming years.

Dr Singh described the plant as a powerful representation of the state government’s ‘Development + Environment + Employment’ model, signalling Uttar Pradesh’s shift from consumption to production and export.

Dr Singh acknowledged the state’s rapid decision-making, transparent governance, investor protection measures, and business-friendly policies, which have encouraged global companies to invest in Uttar Pradesh.

Subsidies such as the 75% front-end land support demonstrate the government’s commitment to establishing industries permanently rather than merely inviting them.

He also highlighted the transformation of 70 acres of former Scooter India land into a modern EV plant, creating over 1,000 direct jobs, along with thousands of indirect and self-employment opportunities for youth.

According to Dr Singh, the project will promote clean transportation, reduce carbon emissions, and provide technology-driven employment for future generations.

He expressed confidence that under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh would soon become the driving engine of India’s EV revolution.

Concluding his remarks, Dr Singh reiterated that the Sarojininagar EV factory is not just a present-day achievement but a foundation for a brighter future, where development, environmental protection, and self-reliance advance together.
