Rajeshwar Singh Backs CM Yogi’s UP Model

BJP leader and Sarojininagar MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh on Sunday responded sharply to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s recent statements on the condition of traders in Uttar Pradesh.

Calling Yadav’s comments misleading and baseless, Singh reminded the public of the dire situation that prevailed under the SP government.

25,000 murders & rampant crime under SP rule

Dr Singh cited official records showing that during the SP’s five-year rule, Uttar Pradesh witnessed more than 25,000 murders and an average of 7,650 serious crimes per day, including extortion, abduction, and dacoity, with traders among the primary victims.

“Business was paralysed and traders were forced to flee,” he said.

In contrast, he praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, calling it ‘decisive and visionary’.

Police have booked over 70,000 criminals under the Gangster Act, invoked the NSA against 1,000 offenders, and eliminated more than 200 hardened criminals in encounters under Yogi’s zero tolerance policy against crime.

Highlighting the transformation, Singh said, “Today, Uttar Pradesh is the second-largest economy in India. The state’s GSDP has risen from ₹12 lakh crore to ₹31 lakh crore, and per capita income has nearly tripled from ₹45,000 to ₹1.2 lakh.”

He also drew a sharp contrast between the SP’s and the BJP’s governance philosophies.

“The SP believed in ‘One District, One Mafia’, while the BJP champions ‘One District, One Product’ to promote local enterprise and crafts,” Singh said.

Trader-focused reforms & security initiatives

Referring to current trader-friendly initiatives, Dr Singh pointed out the establishment of the Vyapari Kalyan Board, introduction of Bhamashah Samman, and Trader Security Forums as evidence of the government’s pro-business approach.

“Today, there is neither extortion nor fear. Traders are partners in progress,” he declared.

In a pointed message to Akhilesh Yadav, Dr Singh said, “Please do not poison the state with caste-based politics. It endangers the future of our youth and halts the momentum of development.”

He concluded by citing recent milestones such as ₹9,956 crore in April GST collection and $21.98 billion in foreign trade, affirming Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as a global economic player.

He urged SP leaders to abandon their negative rhetoric and reflect on why voters have reduced their party to fewer than 50 seats

The remarks followed the Bhamashah Samman Samaroh held at Lok Bhavan, where CM Yogi honoured top GST-contributing traders, reflecting the government’s commitment to recognising and empowering the business community.
