Raghav Chadha Submits Letter To Rajya Sabha Chairman For AAP MPs’ Merger With BJP

Raghav Chadha on Friday announced a major political shift, stating that he and six other MPs have formally submitted signed documents to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. He said the move initiates a split within the Aam Aadmi Party and paves the way for their merger with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Addressing a press briefing alongside Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, Chadha stated that seven MPs have endorsed the decision. He also shared on X that the group submitted a formal ‘letter of intent’ under constitutional provisions to the Chairman.

Raghav Chadha confirmed that he personally, along with two colleagues, handed over the signed papers. He asserted that more than two-thirds of AAP’s Rajya Sabha members support the transition, fulfilling requirements for a valid split.

The development significantly weakens AAP’s strength in the Upper House. The party’s tally will reduce from 10 members to just three after the faction exits.

The MPs backing the move include Swati Maliwal, Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta and Vikram Sahni.

The shift follows Raghav Chadha’s recent removal from the post of Deputy Leader in the House over alleged inaction on key issues.

Currently, AAP holds representation largely from Punjab, its only governing state. The remaining MPs from Delhi include Narain Dass Gupta and Sanjay Singh.

The unfolding situation marks a crucial turning point in parliamentary dynamics.
