Following the brutal murder of Jitan Sahani, Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, visited the home of Sahani’s son, Mukesh Sahani, in Darbhanga on Wednesday to offer his condolences.
Yadav demanded the immediate arrest and swift trial of the accused, advocating for capital punishment to ensure justice.
Yadav expressed grave concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar, highlighting the shock and outrage sparked by the murder.
He stated, “The manner in which he was murdered has shocked the entire nation. I have called for the immediate arrest and a speedy trial leading to capital punishment for those responsible. This incident raises serious questions about Bihar’s law and order.”
Emphasizing his grief and the alarming frequency of murders in Bihar, Yadav urged the state government to convene an all-party meeting to address the escalating crime rate.
“Criminals have no caste or religion,” he remarked, stressing the need for a united approach to combat crime.
Yadav also mentioned his meetings with the ADGP Bihar and the Chief Secretary on Tuesday, during which he discussed the incident and urged them to expedite the case resolution.
Meanwhile, the Darbhanga police have made significant strides in the murder investigation, detaining four individuals based on CCTV evidence.
Sources revealed that Jitan Sahani had lent money to two of the suspects, leading to an altercation when he confiscated one suspect’s bike as collateral a day before the murder.
The police are scrutinizing the financial dealings and call histories of the suspects, while the CCTV footage remains unreleased to the public.
