Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Hospitalized For Routine Checkup

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has admitted himself to Apollo Hospital in Delhi for a routine checkup and is reportedly in good condition, according to hospital sources. While he is currently under observation, the timeline for his discharge remains unclear.

Hospital representatives confirmed to that CM Mann is doing well, but there has been no official statement from either the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) or the Punjab government regarding his health.

In the meantime, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia has alleged that Mann consumed alcohol illegally on a chartered flight from Delhi to Chandigarh, leading to an incident where he fell on the tarmac after disembarking. Majithia has called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

Speaking to the media in Patiala, Majithia claimed, “The Chief Minister drank liquor along with his OSD during the flight from Delhi to Chandigarh.” He criticized the decision to transport Mann back to Delhi in a chartered plane, labeling it a “criminal waste of state resources.” He questioned why Mann did not go to a hospital in Chandigarh or Punjab, suggesting that such a move would have revealed the truth about his condition.

Lufthansa Flight Incident

Majithia noted that this was not the first time the Chief Minister allegedly showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol, recalling an earlier incident when authorities removed Mann from a Lufthansa flight for being inebriated.

Opposition leaders have also expressed their dissatisfaction, highlighting the contradictions in the AAP government’s claims about state-run healthcare. Punjab Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa criticized Mann’s choice to seek treatment at a private hospital in Delhi instead of utilizing local facilities, calling it a stark display of hypocrisy.

Bajwa prayed for Mann’s swift recovery but noted the implications of his health issues on Punjab’s governance, stating, “As he grapples with recurring health issues, including those affecting vital organs like the liver, it’s a stark reminder that while his personal health is crucial, Punjab’s health has deteriorated beyond repair under his leadership.” He emphasized the need for a strong and capable leader in a sensitive border state like Punjab.
