Priyanka Gandhi Meets Amit Shah, Urges Centre To Provide Relief To Landslide Victims In Wayanad

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with Kerala MPs, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday. She demanded immediate financial aid for Wayanad landslide victims. Priyanka, representing Wayanad in the Lok Sabha, urged Shah to prioritize humanitarian relief over politics.

Speaking to the media, she said, “If the Centre does not act now, it sends a bad message nationwide, especially to the victims.”

Massive Damage in Wayanad Villages

Congress General Secretery highlighted the destruction caused by the landslide. “Entire villages are gone, families have lost everything, and no support system exists,” she said. In addition She warned that delays in aid would worsen the victims’ plight and tarnish the government’s image.

The landslide, which hit Wayanad on July 31, killed 231 people. It caused massive destruction in Punchirimattam, Chooralmala, and Mundakkai villages, along with parts of Attamala.

Shah Assures Response by Thursday

Gandhi informed reporters that Shah promised to provide details of the relief package by Thursday evening. She criticized the lack of significant aid, despite the Prime Minister’s visit to the affected areas in September.

“After such a visit, no major assistance has reached the victims,” Gandhi said. She called for urgent action, emphasizing the need to support those who have lost everything.
