Prime Minister Narendra Modi To Visit Rajasthan On 22 May; First Trip Since ‘Operation Sindoor’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Rajasthan on 22 May, marking his first trip to the state since the completion of Operation Sindoor.

The India-Pakistan border lies about 200 kilometres from Deshnok, a key location during the operation in which the Indian Army targeted and destroyed several terrorist hideouts across the border in Pakistan.

Context Of The Visit

This visit comes amid a period of reduced tensions following a ceasefire understanding between the two countries.

During the visit, PM Modi will inaugurate multiple railway stations across India under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, including the Deshnok station, through a digital event.

The Prime Minister will likely address the public.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will accompany the Prime Minister on this occasion.

Ahead of the visit, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, along with other central and state ministers, will travel to Bikaner on 17 May to finalise preparations.

The district administration began its arrangements on 15 May after receiving official notification from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Bikaner division has developed two modern railway stations, Dabwali and Gogamedi, as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

The upgrade of Bikaner’s Lalgarh station is nearly complete, and construction at Deshnok station in the Jodhpur division has also finished.

In total, 22 stations in the Bikaner division are undergoing redevelopment, officials confirmed.

Despite the ceasefire understanding and improved relations, a drone was spotted on the morning of 15 May in village 12A of Anupgarh, near the border in Sri Ganganagar district.

Officials have dismantled the temporary security post in the area after restoring peace. Tourist activities have resumed, and the Border Security Force recently conducted a special puja and aarti at the Tanot Mata Temple as part of the region’s reopening.
