Prime Minister Modi Virtually Launches Six Vande Bharat Trains Amid Jharkhand’s Karam Festival

In a virtual ceremony held on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated six new Vande Bharat trains from Jharkhand’s Tatanagar, following adverse weather conditions that prevented his physical presence at the event. PM Modi conducted the flagging-off via video conferencing, marking a significant step in enhancing regional connectivity.

The newly introduced Vande Bharat trains will service the routes between Berhampur and Tata, Rourkela and Howrah, Deoghar and Banaras, Howrah and Gaya, and Howrah and Bhagalpur. This expansion aims to bolster transportation links across the region.

In addition to the train launches, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects in Jharkhand, totaling an investment of ₹21,000 crore. The projects include the Madhupur bypass line and the Hariyali Bagh Town Coaching Depot.

Virtual Gathering

Addressing the virtual gathering, PM Modi acknowledged the festive spirit of Jharkhand’s Karam festival, noting a warm reception he received upon his arrival at the airport. He remarked, “Today is an auspicious day with the Karam festival celebrations in full swing. Sisters traditionally wish for the well-being of their brothers during this time.”

The Prime Minister emphasized the Centre’s commitment to Jharkhand’s growth, stating, “Jharkhand has been blessed with new Vande Bharat trains, railway projects worth over ₹650 crore, and housing for thousands under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.” He also highlighted the allocation of ₹700 crore to Jharkhand’s rail infrastructure—16 times the budget from a decade ago.

Uplifting Marginalized Communities

Reflecting on the state’s progress, PM Modi pointed out the historical lag in infrastructure development and affirmed the government’s focus on uplifting marginalized communities, including the poor, tribal groups, Dalits, backward classes, women, farmers, and youth.

“The new rail connectivity will not only boost the local economy but also benefit businessmen and students, fostering both economic growth and cultural activities,” he said.

In addition, PM Modi announced the launch of the PM Jan Man Yojana, aimed specifically at supporting tribal communities. He reaffirmed the government’s vision of creating a developed India and urged the people of Jharkhand to unite in achieving this goal.

The Prime Minister concluded by expressing his regrets for not being able to attend the event in person due to weather-related issues but reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to Jharkhand’s development.
