Prime Minister Modi Highlights Importance Of Khelo India Program During Meeting With Paris Olympics Contingent

Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the growing significance of the Khelo India program in strengthening the country’s sports ecosystem during a meeting with India’s Paris Olympics contingent at his residence on Thursday.

Addressing the athletes, Modi emphasized that the Khelo India initiative, designed to nurture talent from grassroots levels, has become a crucial element in India’s sports development strategy. He noted that 28 players from the Khelo India program participated in the recent Olympics, showcasing the program’s impact.

“Playing and winning in Khelo India has now become an important part of our national sports agenda,” said Modi. “We need to bolster this initiative even further. Through Khelo India, we are discovering and nurturing new talents, and I am confident it will continue to unearth many more exceptional players.”

Budget Scheme For Khelo India

Modi praised the Khelo India campaign for creating a new generation of athletes and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing world-class facilities and resources. “We are continuously increasing the budget to ensure our athletes have access to the best training and support,” he said.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the importance of international exposure for athletes, noting that Indian sportspersons have been given opportunities to compete globally prior to the Olympics. “It is crucial for athletes to participate in numerous competitions, and we have focused on providing top-notch facilities, including coaches, experts, diet, and equipment,” Modi added.

Reflecting on past challenges, Modi remarked that athletes previously faced significant hardships and had to rely on their own efforts and luck. “Now, we are ensuring that such obstacles are minimize and that athletes receive the necessary support and facilities,” he mention.

Looking ahead, Modi further highlighted the Paris Olympics as a pivotal moment for Indian sports, describing it as a turning point that will propel Indian athletics to new heights. “The Paris Olympics have been significant for India, marking several notable achievements and firsts,” he concluded.
