On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Rajghat, where he laid a wreath and paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi during his ongoing State Visit to India.

He was accompanied by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, and also recorded his message in the visitor’s book at the memorial.

Earlier in the morning, Putin received a ceremonial guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu welcomed him and introduced official delegates from both countries.

Later on Friday, PM Modi and President Putin will hold high-level talks at Hyderabad House. Their discussions are expected to focus on defence cooperation, energy ties, regional security and expanding long-term economic partnership.

Following the meeting, the two leaders will issue statements to the media.

The Russian President will likely attend a business event aimed at boosting investment and trade opportunities.

In the evening, President Murmu will host a banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan in honour of the visiting leader.

The Russian President arrived in New Delhi on Thursday evening, where PM Modi personally received him at the airport, a gesture reflecting the close ties between the two leaders. They travelled together from the tarmac in the same vehicle.

During the initial engagement at the Prime Minister’s residence, PM Modi gifted Putin a Russian translation of the Bhagavad Gita, calling the text a source of inspiration for millions worldwide. He shared a photograph of the moment on X.

The visit features a packed schedule of diplomatic engagements. It highlights the continued significance of the India–Russia partnership amid a complex global environment.

Major avenues in New Delhi feature Russian and Indian flags, lit façades and prominent banners along key roads. The decorations add ceremonial grandeur to the visit.

President Putin and PM Modi also watched a brief cultural performance arranged as part of the airport reception.
