Delhi Airport on Friday issued a fresh travel alert confirming that all IndiGo domestic flights leaving the capital remain cancelled until midnight.
The airport stated that this move affects only IndiGo services, while other airlines continue to operate normally.
In a post on social media platform X, the Delhi Airport posted, “IndiGo domestic flights departing from Delhi Airport on 5th December 2025 are cancelled till midnight today (till 23:59 hours). Operations for all other carriers remain as scheduled.”
“Our dedicated on-ground teams are working diligently with all partners to mitigate the disruption and ensure a comfortable passenger experience. For the latest flight status, please check our official website www.newdelhiairport.in,” it further added.
Earlier, the airline urged travellers to verify their flight times before heading to the airport. It is currently facing one of its most significant operational setbacks in recent years. The disruption has caused widespread delays and cancellations.
IndiGo scrapped more than 500 flights on Thursday alone, and cancelled over 1,200 services across its network in November.
A previous advisory from Delhi Airport had mentioned ongoing operational issues affecting several domestic routes.
In response to the chaos, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu chaired an urgent meeting with IndiGo’s senior executives to review the situation.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has increased monitoring and told airports to offer maximum support to travellers.
The aviation regulator DGCA is also keeping close watch on airfares to prevent unreasonable price hikes.
On Thursday, the DGCA also held discussions with IndiGo, seeking details behind the sudden escalation in cancelled flights.
The airline blamed challenges linked to new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL), along with winter-related disruptions and difficulties in crew planning.
Court directives led to the phased introduction of revised pilot duty rules in July and November to reduce fatigue and enhance flight safety.
IndiGo informed authorities that it had underestimated staffing needs under the new requirements, which has contributed to shortages.
The airline expects the disruption to continue for a few more days. It plans to temporarily cut its flight schedule from 8 December. This move aims to reduce inconvenience for passengers.
It has also requested short-term relaxation of specific FDTL rules for its A320 fleet until February 2026.
The airline has assured that this will help stabilise operations. It expects services to return to normal before the deadline.
