On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended warm Odisha Day greetings to the people, marking Utkal Divas, observed annually on April 1 to commemorate the state’s formation in 1936 on a linguistic basis.
In a message shared on X, President Murmu conveyed her wishes, highlighting the contribution of Odisha’s people to the nation’s progress. She said that the state’s talented and hardworking citizens are playing a vital role in India’s journey towards a Viksit Bharat.
President Murmu also offered prayers to Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannath for the continued prosperity and well-being of the people of the state.
Prime Minister Modi, in his message, described Odisha as a timeless symbol of cultural and spiritual greatness. He noted that the state’s rich traditions of art, music, and literature have significantly enriched India’s heritage over the years.
PM Modi also expressed confidence that the people of Odisha would continue to achieve new milestones of growth and development in the future.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his greetings, praising Odisha’s vibrant cultural legacy and wishing for its continued progress and prosperity in the years ahead.
Earlier, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid tribute to the visionaries and leaders whose efforts led to the creation of a separate Odisha. He reiterated his government’s commitment to safeguarding Odia identity and culture while working towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
Across the state, Odisha Day is being marked with pride and enthusiasm, celebrating its unique heritage and recognising the enduring contributions of its people to India’s cultural and spiritual landscape.
