As Jharkhand marked the 25th anniversary of its formation on Saturday, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed their best wishes to the people of the state. Both leaders highlighted Jharkhand’s cultural vibrancy, rich tribal heritage, and its enduring contributions to the nation.
In a message shared on X, President Murmu congratulated the citizens of Jharkhand on the state’s Silver Jubilee.
She described the people of the state as ‘talented and hardworking’, noting that they have elevated the pride of both Jharkhand and the country.
She emphasised that Jharkhand, blessed with abundant natural resources, has played a continuous and meaningful role in India’s progress.
The President also highlighted the region’s thriving tribal arts, which are recognised across India and abroad. She extended her hopes for the state’s steady advancement, wishing for a bright future for all its residents.
Jharkhand, formed on November 15, 2000, shares its Foundation Day with the birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, a towering figure revered as ‘Dharti Aaba’ or the ‘Father of the Earth’.
Prime Minister Modi also extended his greetings, describing Jharkhand as a ‘glorious state enriched with tribal culture’.
He wrote on X that the land of Birsa Munda holds a history ‘filled with tales of courage, struggle, and self-respect’. He wished the people progress, prosperity, and continued development.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister paid homage to Birsa Munda on the leader’s 150th birth anniversary, observed nationwide as Tribal Pride Day. Born in 1875 in Ulihatu village, now in Jharkhand, Birsa Munda rose as a formidable leader who mobilised tribal communities against British rule and championed the cause of indigenous empowerment.
Jharkhand’s Governor Santosh Gangwar also conveyed his best wishes on the state’s Silver Jubilee. In a post on X, he said Jharkhand’s 25 glorious years symbolise ‘inspiring progress across various fields’ and expressed hope for the state’s continued growth, happiness, and prosperity.
As Jharkhand celebrates this milestone, leaders across the country have underscored the state’s unique identity, cultural legacy, and its unwavering spiri,t shaped by the contributions of its tribal communities.
