In a breakthrough, police in Prayagraj have arrested Mukesh Kumar, 29, accused of raping and murdering a 10-year-old girl. The accused was identified through a pair of slippers found at the crime scene in Ganganagar area.
According to authorities, the girl’s body was discovered in a field on October 4, with no clothing on her body. An investigation was launched, and the slippers led police to Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Soraon, who has a history of drug addiction.
After fleeing his home eight days ago, Mukesh was tracked down by police on Tuesday night near the Judapur highway. When confronted, he opened fire and attempted to escape, but was shot in the leg by police.
