Prayagraj: Prayagraj Junction is going to miss the VIP train Prayagraj Express which was started 40 years ago. From January 10 next year, this train will be operated from Subedarganj Railway Station instead of Prayagraj. Not only this, Prayagraj-Bikaner (Lalgarh) Express will also be operated from Subedarganj Station. A letter has also been issued in this regard by Sanjay R Neelam, Director Coaching, Railway Board.
The Prayagraj Express and Prayagraj-Bikaner Express are being shifted to Subedarganj Railway Station for 50 days only. The reason for shifting both the trains is said to be Maha Kumbh Mela. According to the letter issued by the Railway Board, these two trains will operate from Subedarganj Railway Station from 10 January to 28 February. This will be the first time after the operation of Prayagraj Express started on 16 July 1984, when this train will run from Subedarganj Railway Station instead of Prayagraj Junction.
All the VIPs going to Delhi prefer to travel by Prayagraj Express. In such a situation, during the Maha Kumbh, people coming from far off places may face problems due to the train running from Subedarganj Railway Station. Because the public transport connectivity to Subedarganj Railway Station is not much better than Prayagraj Junction.
In the last Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj Express was operated from Prayagraj Junction only. Then it was stopped at Subedarganj on the occasion of bathing festival, but this time the railway administration is shifting the entire train to Subedarganj Railway Station.
The trains including trains like Udhampur Superfast, Sangam Express, Dehradun Express, Kanpur MEMU, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay MEMU, etc. Now, in this series, Prayagraj Express and Bikaner Express will also be operated from Subedarganj for 50 consecutive days.
