In a recent development, authorities in Prayagraj have exposed a significant illegal operation involving the production of counterfeit currency within the premises of a well-known madrasa, Jamia Habibiya Masjide Azam, located in the Attarsuiya locality.
During a police raid, officers discovered not only the fake currency operation but also controversial materials, which have intensified the investigation.
During the search, police found several books in the room of the madrasa’s principal, Maulvi Mohammad Tafseerul Arifin, which have sparked serious concerns.
Among these materials were publications that contained highly critical content about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Authorities allege that these books indoctrinated students with negative perceptions of the RSS, labeling it as a terrorist organization.
This has raised alarm among intelligence agencies, leading to a broader investigation into the madrasa’s activities.
The madrasa, which provides both education and boarding for around 70 children from multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal, is now under scrutiny for potentially spreading hate-based ideologies.
The police stated that the materials found in the madrasa suggest the curriculum promoted animosity towards certain groups.
One particularly controversial piece of literature discovered in the principal’s room reportedly described the 26/11 Mumbai attacks as an assault orchestrated by Hindus, a narrative that aligns with an article published by Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper.
Investigative agencies are translating this Urdu book into Hindi for further examination.
The madrasa’s proximity to the Attrasuiya police station, just one kilometer away, and its location in a prominent area of the city, have added to the shock surrounding this case.
Intelligence agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau, State Intelligence, and Local Intelligence Unit (LIU), are now deeply probing the madrasa’s activities and its potential connections to wider networks.
The discovery of these materials has led to widespread concern and debate, with authorities pledging to continue their investigation to uncover the full scope of the madrasa’s operations.
As the investigation progresses, the focus remains on determining the reach of the ideology allegedly propagated within its walls and the impact it may have had on the students who studied there.
