PM Narendra Modi Addresses Rajya Sabha As Opposition Raises Slogans

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha on Thursday while Opposition members disrupted proceedings with sustained sloganeering. He delivered his reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address amid repeated interruptions and vocal protests.

As the Prime Minister outlined India’s growth trajectory and its progress towards Viksit Bharat, Opposition benches raised slogans such as ‘Dictatorship won’t be allowed’.

Despite the ruckus, PM Modi continued his address without pause.

During the session, he made a pointed remark aimed at the Leader of the Opposition and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Referring to Kharge’s age and parliamentary seniority, the Prime Minister suggested that the Chair may allow him to remain seated while raising his voice.

PM Modi contrasted ageing developed economies with India’s youthful demographic profile. He said many advanced nations are growing older despite strong institutions and mature economies.

In contrast, India presents a young and dynamic population that offers renewed hope to a world facing demographic decline.

He said India possesses a deep and vibrant pool of youth talent. He added that this demographic strength fuels ambition, innovation, and long-term growth.

According to the Prime Minister, India now inspires confidence globally by offering practical solutions to shared challenges.

The Prime Minister said India ranks among the few economies providing optimism to stressed global markets.

He highlighted the country’s progress towards low inflation and high growth. He said India has risen from the eleventh position and now stands on the threshold of becoming the world’s third-largest economy.

The Prime Minister added that India is advancing confidently across sectors. He cited progress in sports, space exploration, and multiple other fields as evidence of growing national confidence.

PM Modi praised the proposed free trade agreement with the European Union. He described it as the  ‘mother of all deals’. He said sustained reforms and transformational measures have reshaped India’s business environment.

According to the Prime Minister, these changes have strengthened global confidence in India. He said countries across the world now stand ready and eager to engage commercially with India.

The address underscored the government’s view that economic reform, demographic advantage, and institutional stability together position India as a preferred global business partner, even as political tensions played out inside Parliament.
