PM Modi’s Support Inspires Cricketers, Says IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal

IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal said PM Narendra Modi’s keen interest in cricket continues to inspire players and boost their performance, following India’s thrilling five-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final.

After the victory, PM Modi took to X to congratulate the Men in Blue, writing, “#OperationSindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same – India wins! Congrats to our cricketers.”

When asked about the impact of such attention on cricket, Dhumal told IANS, “Cricket is regarded as a legendary sport, deeply connected with every citizen. The Prime Minister’s tweet congratulating the team is truly inspiring for the players and motivates them to perform even better. The Indian team must be very pleased that the world’s most popular leader watched the match and extended his congratulations.”

India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav said it feels encouraging that the nation’s leader himself “bats on the front foot.” Responding to this, Dhumal remarked, “The team’s attitude reflects true leadership. When leadership leaves a mark on the entire world, it influences citizens and the team alike.”

Dhumal congratulated the Indian team for their exceptional performance under pressure. He lauded Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy and Tilak Varma’s sensational unbeaten 69 runs.

“The team played brilliantly under pressure. The final was close, but they held their nerves and showed complete patience,” he said.
He added, “Tilak’s innings in the final were outstanding, and the partnerships in the middle were executed perfectly. Both our bowlers and batters delivered an excellent all-round performance.”
