After officially opening the Airport Express line extension in Dwarka, Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a metro ride.
The Prime Minister, who turned 73 today, spoke with the people inside the metro and thanked them for their well wishes. “Happy Birthday Modi ji” was sung and applauded by the passengers, who even took photographs with him. Children who greeted PM Modi received chocolates from him. He also had a conversation with station personnel from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
From the Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 station to the Dwarka Sector 21 station, a high-speed corridor has been added. The extension, which is around 2 km long, will link India International Convention Centre with Dwarka Sector 21. “With the addition of this section, the Airport Express Line’s total length from New Delhi to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector-25 will be 24.9 km,” the DMRC stated in a statement.

PM Modi unveiled the International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), also known as “Yashobhoomi,” in Dwarka after opening the Airport Express queue. The main auditorium, the grand ballroom and 13 meeting rooms are among the 15 convention rooms in the more than 73,000 square metre convention facility. The auditorium boasts cutting-edge automated seating technology that transforms the flat floor into tiered seats in the auditorium style.
He received birthday wishes from a fellow rider during his metro ride, who sang a few words in Sanskrit.

In addition to the line expansion, the Airport Line’s operational train speed will increase to 120 kmph, making it the fastest metro corridor in the nation. Passengers would be able to travel from New Delhi Metro Station to the airport in 15 minutes and 30 seconds. It now requires 19 minutes. The opening of the new metro station in Dwarka Sector 25 would improve urban connectivity in the neighbourhood and make it easier for passengers to get to YashoBhoomi, the IICC’s convention centre.
