Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a significant meeting to assess the progress of the announcements he made during his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort. Among the key points addressed in his speech, PM Modi emphasized ensuring affordable credit for housing for the poor and middle class. In line with this announcement, the Prime Minister reviewed the preparations for implementing this initiative.
Additionally, PM Modi highlighted the goal of ensuring solar power for households, and the meeting examined the preparations for executing this scheme. Notably, the Prime Minister unveiled plans on August 15 to introduce a new scheme benefiting families residing in rented houses in urban areas.
In his address, PM Modi addressed the challenges faced by weaker sections living in cities and the aspirations of middle-class families to own their homes. He stated, “We are coming up with a new scheme in the coming years that will benefit those families living in cities but residing in rented houses, slums, chawls, and unauthorized colonies. If they wish to build their own houses, we will assist them with relief in interest rates and loans from banks, saving them substantial sums.”
The Prime Minister also highlighted measures taken to benefit the middle class, such as raising the income tax bracket from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 7 lakh, which greatly benefits salaried individuals.
Furthermore, PM Modi underscored India’s growing capabilities, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the country’s commitment to a human-centric approach to global development. He stated, “Covid has taught us that we cannot address global welfare without considering human sensibilities.”
PM Modi also noted that India’s prosperity and heritage are now presenting opportunities for the world. He highlighted India’s role as the voice of the Global South, participating in the global economy and supply chain, and fostering stability worldwide. He concluded by expressing confidence in the trust and stability that India offers to the global community.
