PM Modi’s Five-Nation Tour Brings Nearly $40 Billion Investment Boost To India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent five-nation diplomatic tour helped India secure investment commitments and business expansion proposals worth nearly $40 billion, according to government officials.

The visit strengthened India’s global economic partnerships and reinforced the country’s position as a major destination for international investment and advanced technology cooperation.

Prime Minister Modi visited the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy between May 15 and May 20 as part of a strategic outreach focused on energy security, trade expansion, technology partnerships and infrastructure development.

During the tour, the Prime Minister held meetings with chief executives and senior representatives of more than 50 multinational corporations operating across sectors, including semiconductors, logistics, infrastructure, energy and technology.

Officials said the combined market valuation of these companies stands between $2.7 trillion and $3 trillion, underlining the scale of corporate participation during the visit.

Many of the participating firms already maintain a significant presence in India, with their cumulative investments and business exposure estimated at nearly $180 billion.

Officials noted that several companies are now preparing to expand operations in India to benefit from the country’s strong economic growth, rising domestic demand and improving manufacturing ecosystem.

The UAE announced fresh investment commitments worth nearly $5 billion in India during the tour, which focused on semiconductors, AI, green energy and advanced manufacturing.

India also strengthened strategic partnerships with the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy, with discussions covering trade, defence, innovation and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

Officials said the visit reinforced India’s growing role in global supply chains and strategic partnerships.
