PM Modi’s Bihar Mahila Outreach Fosters Empowerment & Celebration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana in Bihar via video conferencing, marking a significant milestone in women’s empowerment.

Addressing thousands of women beneficiaries, the Prime Minister directly transferred ₹10,000 each into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), describing the initiative as a key step towards fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

During the interactive session, women beneficiaries affectionately addressed the Prime Minister as ‘Bhaiya’, reflecting a strong bond and trust.

Their testimonies highlighted the scheme’s transformative potential in shaping their livelihoods and aspirations.

Reeta Devi from Bhojpur, who started her poultry business in 2015, shared, “My life has changed. With the ₹10,000 support, I will buy 100 more chickens. In winters, the demand for eggs rises, and this will increase my income.” She credited several government schemes — including PM Awas Yojana, Ujjwala, and Ayushman Bharat — for improving her family’s quality of life, ensuring housing, clean energy, and access to healthcare.

Noorjahan Khatun from Gaya also expressed gratitude for living a life of dignity and independence.

“Earlier, our families restricted us from stepping out. Now, with this ₹10,000 corpus, we can start our own businesses,” she said.

Her humorous remark, “Earlier we considered our husbands our sampatti, now they consider us lakhpatis,” drew laughter and applause from the audience.

Spirit of Celebration Across Bihar

Ranjeeta Kazi from West Champaran described the launch as a ‘festival’ of empowerment.

“Ujjwala freed us from smoke. Now, I’ll invest this support in jowar and bajra farming. I dream of joining the Swadeshi movement and becoming a lakhpati one day,” she said.

For Purnea’s Putul Devi, who runs a sweet-making business, the scheme represents a dream fulfilled.

“With ₹2 lakh, I’ll expand my enterprise and contribute to PM’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” she said. Her journey from mockery to success after joining Jeevika showcases the power of women-led growth.

On a lighter note, when PM Modi asked if she knew about the ‘politics over jalebi’, the audience burst into laughter, reflecting the warmth and informality of the exchange.

Encouraging women to inspire others, PM Modi said, “Go to at least one area in your village and tell others about government initiatives. Inspire them the way you are inspiring us today.”

He also reiterated the government’s commitment to enabling women to lead India’s socio-economic transformation through schemes fostering entrepreneurship, skill-building, and financial independence.

Through this interactive and celebratory launch, PM Modi reinforced his vision of inclusive growth — where empowered women drive Bihar’s and India’s future prosperity.
