Amit Shah Prays To Maa Durga For Prosperous West Bengal After Assembly Elections

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday visited the Kalighat Temple in Kolkata and worshipped Goddess Kali. During his visit, he said he had prayed to Maa Durga for a new government in West Bengal that would lead the state towards prosperity after the Assembly elections next year.

Amit Shah Inaugurates Community Durga Puja Pandal

Home Minister Shah inaugurated the Durga Puja pandal at Santosh Mitra Square in central Kolkata, organised by BJP councillor Sajal Ghosh.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, “I prayed to Maa Durga so that after the Assembly elections, the people of West Bengal get such a government which would lead the state towards prosperity. Let peace return to West Bengal. Let us create Bengal in the way imagined by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.”

The theme of the Santosh Mitra Square pandal this year is Operation Sindoor, which highlights the valour of the Indian Armed Forces, who demolished terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in May.

Shah expressed hope that after the elections, West Bengal would re-emerge as a “safe, prosperous and peaceful” state. He also offered condolences to the families of 10 people, including eight in Kolkata, who died from electrocution following torrential rainfall before Durga Puja.

“May the festival of Durga Puja in West Bengal, now a globally acclaimed occasion, lead the state towards prosperity. Our leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi dreams of ‘Vikshit Bharat’ through the route of ‘prosperous Bengal’. Let his dreams be fulfilled,” Shah said.

Pays Tribute to Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar

On the occasion of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar’s birth anniversary, Shah recalled the iconic educationist, social reformer, and philanthropist. He said, “His contribution towards academic development will never be forgotten. He dedicated his entire life to the Bengali language, the traditions of Bengal, and the education of women of Bengal.”

HM Shah arrived in Kolkata on Thursday and highlighted the country’s enthusiasm for Durga Puja and other regional festivals.

He said that the entire country is celebrating the worship of Mother Durga with devotion and enthusiasm, whether through the Durga Puja in West Bengal or the Garba-Ras in Gujarat.
