Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally called former J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to enquire about his health.
Azad was hospitalised in Kuwait due to a heat-related illness during his official visit to the Gulf region.
He is part of an all-party delegation highlighting India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
In a reassuring post on X, Azad confirmed he is recovering and thanked well-wishers for their concern.
“Blessed to share that despite the extreme heat in Kuwait affecting my health, by God’s grace I’m doing fine and recovering well. All test results are normal. Thank you all for your concern and prayers — it truly means a lot!” he wrote on Tuesday.
BJP MP Baijayant Panda, who is leading the delegation, expressed admiration for Azad’s contributions and resolve.
“That is wonderful news indeed! Wishing you a speedy recovery. We were touched by your warm bonhomie, & truly admired your dedication to speak for India despite bad health through a gruelling schedule in two countries,” he wrote.
Panda also noted Azad’s impactful participation in key meetings held in Bahrain and Kuwait.
“His contributions were highly impactful… He is disappointed at being bedridden and will be deeply missed in Saudi Arabia and Algeria,” he added in another post on X.
The news of Azad’s hospitalisation drew concern and prayers from leaders across the political spectrum.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also wished him a speedy recovery.
“Concerned to learn that one of the high-profile delegation members sent out to bolster India’s narrative against Pakistani terrorism has been hospitalised in Kuwait. We wish him a speedy recovery,” Ramesh posted.
Meanwhile, the all-party delegation has moved on to Saudi Arabia for the next leg of their diplomatic tour.
The team was warmly received by Maj Gen Abdulrahman Alharbi, Chair of the India-Saudi Arabia Friendship Committee of the Shura Council.
“India’s stand on terrorism is resolute & uncompromising — a message we bring to Saudi Arabia,” Baijayant Panda stated, highlighting the continued momentum of the delegation despite Azad’s absence.
The delegation includes leaders from BJP, AIMIM, and independent members like Ghulam Nabi Azad and Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
Their joint mission reflects political unity in highlighting India’s firm stance against terrorism on global platforms.
