Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s fully indigenous 4G stack from Jharsuguda, Odisha, marking a significant step in the country’s journey from technological dependence to self-reliance.
The launch will include over 97,500 BSNL towers spanning states such as Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Assam, Gujarat, and Bihar, connecting millions of Indians to faster and reliable digital services.
During the event, PM Modi will emphasise that BSNL’s 4G stack reflects the swadeshi spirit and India’s commitment to self-reliance.
With over 92,000 sites already connecting 22 million citizens, the project demonstrates how indigenous technology will drive employment, boost exports, support fiscal revival, and strengthen the nation’s digital infrastructure.
The Prime Minister’s initiative will align with the broader Atmanirbhar Bharat mission, positioning India as a global leader in telecommunications.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted that India developed the indigenous 4G stack in just 22 months, showcasing the nation’s technological capabilities and readiness to compete on the global stage.
The project will generate extensive employment opportunities, enhance internet penetration in rural and semi-urban regions, and provide a platform for India to drive technological innovation.
By connecting tens of thousands of villages under the Digital India Fund mission-mode project, the initiative will ensure equitable access to digital services for all citizens.
Alongside the BSNL 4G inauguration, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹60,000 crore in sectors such as telecommunications, railways, higher education, healthcare, skill development, and rural housing in Jharsuguda.
These projects aim to accelerate regional growth while reinforcing India’s self-reliant vision.
The Prime Minister will underline that India’s telecom sector is now capable not only of providing services but also of developing world-class technology.
With full deployment of the indigenous 4G stack, India will strengthen its digital sovereignty and create a robust foundation for future 5G adoption, global competitiveness, and technological leadership.
