Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended a warm welcome to French President Emmanuel Macron upon his arrival in India, expressing confidence that enhanced India-France cooperation would contribute to global progress.
President Macron landed in Mumbai earlier in the day and was received at the airport by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Governor Acharya Devvrat.
Welcoming the French leader, PM Modi said India looked forward to his visit and to advancing bilateral ties to new heights. He expressed confidence that their discussions would further strengthen cooperation across sectors and contribute to global progress. The Prime Minister also said he would meet Macron in Mumbai and later in Delhi.
Modi is scheduled to travel to Mumbai to hold bilateral meetings with President Macron. The French leader is on an official visit to India at Modi’s invitation to participate in the AI Impact Summit being hosted by the country. This marks Macron’s fourth visit to India and his first official engagement in Mumbai.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., the two leaders will hold talks at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the discussions will include a comprehensive review of progress under the India-France Strategic Partnership, with a focus on expanding cooperation in emerging and future-oriented sectors.
The leaders will also exchange views on significant regional and global issues.
Later in the day, around 5:15 pm, PM Modi and Macron will jointly inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. The two leaders are also set to address business leaders, start-up founders, researchers and innovators from both nations.
