Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that leaders of the Trinamool Congress allegedly involved in corruption and exploitation of citizens in West Bengal would be identified and held accountable after May 4, when Assembly election results are expected to be announced.
Addressing a rally in Asansol in West Burdwan district, PM Modi said individuals found guilty, including leaders and ministers, would face legal consequences, reiterating his assurance of strict action.
The rally in Asansol marked the second of three public meetings addressed by the Prime Minister during the day. Earlier, he spoke at Haldia in East Midnapore district, and was scheduled to address another gathering in Suri in Birbhum district later.
Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that the upcoming elections would result in a “double-engine” government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party. He added that the state would enter a new phase of development after May 4.
The Prime Minister alleged that the politics of the Trinamool Congress is rooted in creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation. He claimed that such an environment has contributed to the decline of industrial activity in the state, with factories shutting down while unlawful networks have expanded.
He further stated that the current situation cannot continue indefinitely and called for change to restore normalcy and security for residents.
Raising concerns about women’s safety, PM Modi alleged that the state government has failed to act against crimes targeting women and instead shields offenders. He asserted that ensuring safety and accountability would be a priority under BJP governance.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come as campaigning intensifies ahead of the Assembly elections in West Bengal, with political parties stepping up attacks and promises to sway voters.
