Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at Tiruchirappalli International Airport at around 4:45 PM on Wednesday and travelled by Indian Air Force helicopter to Panchapur for a major government event.
During the programme, he will inaugurate, lay foundation stones, and flag off development projects worth about ₹5,650 crore.
The initiatives involve key public sector organisations, including Indian Oil Corporation, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and Indian Railways.
Officials said the projects aim to strengthen infrastructure, improve connectivity, and enhance energy capacity across Tamil Nadu.
Among the major projects, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for a city gas distribution network being developed by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in the Nilgiris and Erode districts.
Estimated at ₹3,680 crore, the project will expand access to piped natural gas and promote cleaner energy infrastructure in the region.
PM Modi will dedicate a ₹1,490 crore lubricant plant by Indian Oil at Manali, Chennai, boosting energy and industrial capacity.
He will inaugurate 89 rural roads under PMGSY, lay the foundation for a greenfield bypass on NH 81, and flag off five trains, enhancing rail connectivity.
Later, he will address an NDA public meeting. PM Modi’s traditional Tamil attire reflects respect for the state’s culture.
