PM Modi Visits Srisailam Temple; Set To Unveil ₹13,430-Crore Development Projects In Andhra Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday offered prayers at the revered Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district, during his one-day visit to the state.

The temple, one of India’s 12 Jyotirlingas and 52 Shakti Peeths, holds immense spiritual significance.

The Prime Minister reached Srisailam amid heightened security, accompanied by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

Temple priests and officials received them at the main entrance and guided them through traditional rituals. They also described the temple’s unique distinction, the rare coexistence of a Jyotirlinga and Shakti Peeth within a single sacred complex.

This marked PM Modi’s first visit to the temple, making him the fourth Prime Minister to do so after Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao.

Visit to Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra

Following the temple visit, PM Modi went to the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra, a memorial dedicated to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 1677 pilgrimage to Srisailam.

The complex features a meditation hall surrounded by models of four historic forts, Pratapgad, Rajgad, Raigad and Shivneri, with a statue of Shivaji Maharaj in deep meditation at its centre.

Members of the Sree Shivaji Memorial Committee, which manages the site, briefed the Prime Minister on its history and design.

Upon his arrival at Kurnool airport, PM Modi was received by Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Kalyan and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh. From there, he travelled via Sundipenta Helipad to the temple.

Later in the day, the Prime Minister will address the Super GST Super Saving public meeting at Raaga Mayuri Green Hills in Nannuru village. The event formed part of the state’s awareness drive on the new GST reforms aimed at boosting fiscal transparency and governance efficiency.

He will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects worth ₹13,430 crore across key sectors, including industry, power, roads, railways, defence manufacturing and petroleum.

This visit marked PM Modi’s fifth trip to Andhra Pradesh since the TDP-led NDA government assumed office last year.
