Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha on the evolving West Asia situation, urging all state governments to establish robust monitoring systems for migrant workers and other vulnerable groups.
He highlighted the disproportionate impact of crises on weaker sections, emphasising the timely delivery of the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and proactive steps to alleviate hardships.
“During crises, the poor, labourers, and migrant workers suffer the most,” he said, further adding that states must act swiftly to prevent black marketing and hoarding.
The Prime Minister also called for vigilance and rapid response to any complaints related to such practices.
Stressing the need for unity, PM Modi underlined the importance of collective action under the spirit of ‘Team India’ to maintain economic growth and navigate global uncertainty.
“No matter how big the crisis, it is our joint responsibility to sustain India’s rapid growth. Swift reforms and coordinated measures are essential for this major test,” he further stated.
Recalling India’s Covid response, PM Modi praised the Centre and states for ensuring testing, vaccination, and essential supplies through effective teamwork, and urged them to apply the same spirit to the current crisis.
He also warned that the West Asia conflict’s effects could be prolonged and urged citizens to stay prepared.
‘This crisis is evolving, and we are devising solutions differently. We must face every challenge with patience, restraint, and a calm mind,’ he asserted.
PM Modi assured that the government remains vigilant and committed to citizens’ welfare, stating, “There is a strong possibility that the adverse effects of this war may persist for a long time. The government is alert, taking every decision with seriousness. The welfare of the people is our identity and our strength.”
