PM Modi Urges NDA MPs To Focus On Grassroots Work, Says Rijiju

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided ‘excellent guidance’ to NDA Members of Parliament at a parliamentary meeting, urging them to focus on grassroots work to sustain the coalition’s winning momentum in upcoming state elections.

The NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, held at the Parliament Library Building in New Delhi, discussed the Union Budget 2026 and the government’s long-term vision for Viksit Bharat 2047.

Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Health Minister JP Nadda, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, and several NDA ministers and MPs attended the session.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Rijiju said NDA MPs congratulated the Prime Minister for a series of trade agreements with developed nations, describing them as historic and beneficial for ordinary citizens.

He noted that discussions covered nine major free trade agreements, including the recently signed India–EU Free Trade Agreement and the India–US trade deal concluded a day earlier.

Rijiju said these agreements with 39 developed countries reflect global confidence in India’s leadership and will help improve livelihoods, expand markets and strengthen economic growth.

Rijiju said the Prime Minister reminded NDA leaders that consistent grassroots work, not rhetoric, wins elections.

He said NDA governments at the Centre, in states and local bodies have delivered results through good governance.

Rijiju criticised Rahul Gandhi for disrupting House proceedings, saying debates in both Houses were derailed by procedural violations, and urged respect for parliamentary decorum.

Earlier, PM Modi acknowledged reporters’ congratulations on the India–US trade deal with a smile and a brief thank you.
