Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners to work with unity and an increased pace to take the country forward, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Tuesday.
His remarks followed the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament Library Building, where senior Cabinet ministers and alliance leaders warmly received PM Modi.
Rijiju stated that all NDA MPs congratulated the Prime Minister for the alliance’s historic victory in the Bihar Assembly elections.
He said PM Modi was felicitated with a victory garland and received collective appreciation for guiding the alliance to a ‘splendid victory’.
The meeting further marked the first major gathering after PM Modi’s interaction with Bihar MPs on Monday.
According to Rijiju, the Prime Minister offered detailed guidance on governance, with a particular stress on reforms that directly benefit ordinary citizens.
PM Modi further emphasised that no law or rule should cause unnecessary inconvenience to the public.
He underscored the need to simplify procedures across sectors to ensure ease of living, highlighting that the government’s work in his third term has been visible to the people.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to all NDA allies for their ‘excellent performance’ in the Vice-Presidential election, reiterating that strengthened unity would accelerate the nation’s development trajectory.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Health Minister JP Nadda, Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha, JD(U) MP Sanjay Jaiswal, and several other leaders attended the gathering.
The meeting continued as they discussed key legislative and national matters.
Rijiju further informed that the Lok Sabha would discuss the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) of electoral rolls in 12 states and Union Territories, with the debate expected to extend into Wednesday if needed.
On the scheduled discussion on Vande Mataram in the Rajya Sabha, to be led by Home Minister Amit Shah, Rijiju rejected opposition claims linking it to the upcoming Bengal elections.
He clarified that Vande Mataram’s 150th anniversary falls in November and that no one can alter anniversaries to fit political narratives. The Upper House will hold the discussion over two days.
