PM Modi Unveils Development Projects Worth Over Rs 35,000 Crore In Vadodara

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday unveiled and dedicated development projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara, covering railways, roads, housing, water supply, renewable energy and urban development.

The completion of key sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) was the main highlight.

PM Modi dedicated three WDFC sections spanning 326 route kilometres and costing over ₹20,700 crore.

The Sanand-Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale and New Saphale-Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) sections complete the corridor’s entire route and provide direct freight connectivity to JNPA.

The corridor will speed up export-import cargo movement, reduce logistics costs and ease congestion on Mumbai’s railway network.

PM Modi flagged off freight services from New Sanand, New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT, Mumbai. He further launched a new passenger service between Vadodara and Tanda Road and dedicated the Jobat-Tanda Road railway line, connecting remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur with the national rail network.

The Prime Minister laid foundation stones for three railway projects covering 329 km and costing over ₹9,700 crore. These include additional lines between Vadodara and Ratlam, gauge conversion of the Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar section and doubling of the Vishwamitri-Dabhoi section.

The programme, however, included National Highway projects worth around ₹1,780 crore and the inauguration of six-lane flyovers at Kandari Chokdi and Luvara Patia.

State projects worth around ₹2,600 crore include a ring road expansion, a 110 MW floating solar project and a new Vadodara Municipal Corporation office. Housing and water-supply projects will also benefit residents.

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel said the projects will strengthen connectivity, essential services and the state’s ‘Viksit Gujarat’ vision.
