PM Modi Unveils Assam Development Roadmap; Confident Of BJP Hat-Trick

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed a large public rally in Gogamukh, Assam, presenting an ambitious roadmap for the state’s development and expressing confidence in the BJP securing a third consecutive term in power.

Invoking Assam’s cultural legacy, PM Modi referred to icons like Lachit Borphukan and Bhupen Hazarika, stating their contributions continue to shape the state’s identity. He emphasised that achieving a developed India depends on the progress of Assam.

The Prime Minister also aimed at Rahul Gandhi, suggesting continued electoral setbacks for the opposition while asserting the BJP’s strong track record in fulfilling its commitments.

Highlighting welfare initiatives, PM Modi said over 22 lakh families in Assam have received permanent housing, with plans to extend benefits to another 15 lakh. He underscored the role of a ‘double-engine government’ in accelerating development.

On women’s empowerment, he noted that around three lakh women have become financially independent under the ‘Lakhpati Baideo’ initiative, with a target to raise this number to 40 lakh. He also announced plans to expand the Orunodoi financial assistance scheme.

Key Policy Announcements

Among key promises, the Prime Minister reiterated the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in the state and cited benefits to nearly 20 lakh farmers under the PM-Kisan scheme.

Addressing floods, PM Modi outlined a Rs 18,000 crore plan to mitigate the issue, including work on the Subansiri River.

Prime Minister Modi contrasted current governance with previous administrations, pointing to improvements in security and infrastructure. He highlighted that while only three bridges were built over the Brahmaputra River during earlier regimes, five have been completed in the past decade, with more underway.

PM Modi also cited growth in healthcare and education, noting an increase in medical colleges from six to 14, alongside new engineering institutions and polytechnics. Looking ahead, he projected Assam as a future semiconductor hub.

Criticising the Congress, PM Modi accused it of dynastic politics, appeasement, and backing infiltrators, while reiterating the BJP’s commitment to development and preservation of Assam’s heritage.
