PM Modi To Step Up Election Campaign In Chennai And Puducherry On April 3–4

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing to boost the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) campaign in southern India with a scheduled two-day tour of Chennai and Puducherry on April 3 and 4, ahead of the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory.

Sources indicate that the Prime Minister will land at Chennai International Airport on the afternoon of April 3 and will immediately travel to Puducherry.

He will address a large public gathering later in the evening to rally support for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates and its allies ahead of the April 9 polling in the region.

He will subsequently return to Chennai the same night after concluding the event.

Security agencies have already initiated detailed preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit. The Greater Chennai City Police, along with other authorities, are putting in place arrangements at key locations.

Authorities will enforce strict security protocols, including layered protection, traffic diversions, and regulated movement, to ensure safety and the smooth conduct of the programme.

Key Strategy Session in Chennai

On April 4, the Prime Minister will convene a closed-door meeting in Chennai with nearly 100 party officials, grassroots workers, and important stakeholders.

The meeting will focus on strengthening booth-level coordination and sharpening campaign tactics ahead of the April 23 polling in Tamil Nadu.

Later that day, PM Modi will participate in a campaign event supporting the NDA candidate in Mylapore, a politically significant constituency in Chennai. Organisers are also considering a roadshow, with T Nagar emerging as a likely location, though they have not yet finalised the route.

The BJP leadership views the visit as a key effort to strengthen its presence in Tamil Nadu and intensify its campaign in Puducherry.

As both regions head towards closely contested elections, the Prime Minister’s engagements are expected to energise party workers and boost the NDA’s visibility in the final phase of campaigning.
