In a significant boost to preparations for the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, the Ministry of AYUSH has announced that registrations on the Yoga Sangam Portal have crossed the six lakh mark.
The achievement reflects growing enthusiasm among institutions and communities across the country to participate in the nationwide celebration of yoga on June 21.
The Ministry stated that registered organisations will conduct synchronised yoga sessions based on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) and join Prime Minister Narendra Modi in promoting the message of health, wellness and collective well-being.
Officials described the milestone as evidence of unprecedented public participation and a strong commitment to making yoga a people-led movement.
Yoga Sangam, one of the flagship initiatives of International Day of Yoga 2026, aims to extend celebrations beyond a central venue by encouraging institutions to organise yoga sessions within their own communities while remaining connected to a nationwide programme.
The Yoga Sangam Portal serves as the digital platform for registrations, coordination and participation tracking.
The initiative has now reached all States and Union Territories, covering 778 districts across India.
Over 3.22 lakh government institutions, nearly two lakh educational institutions, 16,000 private organisations and more than 5,000 NGOs have registered for Yoga Sangam.
West Bengal tops the list with over 2.76 lakh registrations, followed by Rajasthan with nearly 1.50 lakh. Several other states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha, have also reported strong participation.
