PM Modi, President Murmu To Unveil Rs 47,600 Crore Projects In Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on Saturday to attend a major programme in Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj district, marking two years of the BJP government in the state.

President Droupadi Murmu will join him, creating a rare occasion where Odisha hosts the country’s two highest constitutional authorities together.

The visit is expected to place Odisha in the national spotlight and highlight its growing contribution to India’s development journey.

After arriving, the Prime Minister and the President will travel to Pahadpur, the President’s in-laws’ village in Mayurbhanj district. There, they will offer prayers at the sacred Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera groves and visit the local Skill Centre and Pahadpur School.

These visits will showcase the government’s commitment to education, skill development and socio-economic progress in tribal and rural areas.

Later, both leaders will participate in a special programme in Rairangpur under the theme ‘Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara’, celebrating the state government’s two-year milestone.

During the event, they will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹47,600 crore across sectors such as energy, industrial infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water, healthcare, education, tourism and irrigation.

Key projects include the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project and the Stage-II expansion of the IB Thermal Power Station, featuring two 660 MW units.

Other initiatives, however, include a compressed biogas plant in Bhubaneswar, a bridge over the Kathajodi River connecting Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, road and irrigation projects, and educational infrastructure in Rairangpur.

The Prime Minister will also address a large public gathering.

Odisha Police have deployed extensive security arrangements for the high-profile visit.

President Murmu arrived in Mayurbhanj on Friday evening for her two-day visit to the state.
