PM Modi To Inaugurate Viveka Smaraka At Ramakrishna Ashrama In Mysuru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Viveka Smaraka at the Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru on August 1, marking a significant tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s enduring legacy.

The Viveka Smaraka stands at the site where Swami Vivekananda stayed during his visit to Mysuru in November 1892, before he delivered his historic address at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago the following year.

Announcing the programme, Ramakrishna Ashrama President Swami Muktidananda said the Ashrama established the memorial as a youth service and personality development centre to inspire future generations through Swami Vivekananda’s ideals and teachings.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the memorial at around 03:30 PM before addressing more than 6,000 youth and residents of Mysuru. He will also offer floral tributes to Ramakrishna Paramahamsa at the century-old Ramakrishna Ashrama.

After decades of efforts to secure the historic site, the Ramakrishna Ashrama developed the state-of-the-art memorial, which features a towering bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda, a meditation hall and an interactive gallery highlighting his stay in Mysuru and its influence on his spiritual journey.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister will receive a marble statue of Swami Vivekananda created by renowned Mysuru sculptor Arun Yogiraj, who also carved the idol of Lord Ram at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.

Swami Muktidananda said Arun Yogiraj created the statue as a tribute to the Prime Minister.

Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, will attend as the chief guest.

The memorial aims to inspire young people with Swami Vivekananda’s ideals while highlighting Mysuru’s important role in his spiritual journey and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
