PM Modi To Inaugurate Pune Metro’s 23-Km Pink Line On November 3

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Pune Metro’s 23-kilometre Pink Line on November 3, marking a major expansion of the city’s urban transport network. He will further lay the foundation stone for Phase II projects worth approximately ₹21,800 crore and address the gathering through video conferencing at 12:30 PM.

In a post on X, PM Modi highlighted the key features of the Pink Line, which will connect Hinjewadi’s IT hub with Shivajinagar.

Pointing to its women-operated services and planned use of solar energy, the Prime Minister described the project as a significant boost to Pune’s ‘Ease of Living’. He said almost a third of the corridor’s electricity requirements were planned to be met through solar power.

Pune Metro Pink Line: Route and Key Features

Built at a cost of more than ₹8,300 crore, the 23-kilometre corridor will connect Maan with District Court Metro station, providing direct connectivity between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar.

The route will likely benefit IT professionals and other commuters by improving daily travel, reducing dependence on private vehicles and easing traffic congestion.

Women train operators will manage the entire corridor, while solar energy will likely meet around 30 per cent of its electricity requirements.

Alongside the inauguration, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for Pune Metro Phase II, estimated to cost ₹13,500 crore.

The expansion will cover Lines 2A, 2B, 4 and 4A, connecting areas including Vanaz, Chandani Chowk, Ramwadi, Vitthalwadi, Kharadi, Khadakwasla, Hadapsar, Swargate, Manik Baug and Nanded City.

The new corridors will integrate with intercity bus services and existing Metro routes through interchange points such as Swargate, Nal Stop and Kharadi Bypass.
