Prime Minister Narendra Modi will likely inaugurate Kartavya Bhavan–03, a newly constructed government office complex at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, on Wednesday at around 12:15 PM.
Later the same day, at approximately 6:30 PM, the Prime Minister will address a public gathering at the venue, as announced in a statement issued on Tuesday.
This inauguration marks a major step forward in the Central Vista redevelopment initiative.
As the first of several planned Common Central Secretariat buildings, Kartavya Bhavan–03 aims to enhance administrative efficiency by consolidating multiple ministries and departments that currently operate from dispersed locations across the city.
The structure covers a built-up area of roughly 1.5 lakh square metres, comprising two basement levels and seven floors (Ground + 6).
The key government bodies that will occupy the building include the Ministries of Home Affairs, External Affairs, Rural Development, MSME, DoPT, Petroleum & Natural Gas, along with the office of the Principal Scientific Adviser.
Built to support streamlined and secure governance, the complex, however, features a modern infrastructure with high-end technological systems. These include IT-enabled workspaces, smart ID-based access controls, integrated surveillance networks, and a centralised command centre.
Environmental sustainability is central to the building’s design philosophy.
The facility includes provisions for zero-discharge waste systems, in-house solid waste processing, charging points for electric vehicles, and significant use of recycled construction materials.
Kartavya Bhavan–03 is engineered to be 30 per cent more energy-efficient than traditional office buildings. Its features include double-glazed windows to enhance insulation and noise control, LED lighting with occupancy sensors, energy-saving lifts, and a centralised energy management setup.
Additionally, rooftop solar panels will likely generate over 5.34 lakh units of electricity each year, further contributing to the project’s green credentials.
