Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Karnataka, where he is due to inaugurate the Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandira at Sri Kshetra Adichunchanagiri in Mandya district. The structure commemorates Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji, who served as the 71st Pontiff of the Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math.
Built in the classical Dravidian style, the Mandira reflects the enduring influence of the revered seer. It has been conceived as both a sacred space and a centre of inspiration for future generations.
The late Mahaswamiji earned widespread respect for his lifelong service, particularly through initiatives in education and healthcare.
As part of the programme, the Prime Minister will join former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda to release the book ‘Saundarya Lahari and Shiva Mahimna Stotram’. The occasion highlights efforts to preserve and promote India’s spiritual literature.
Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji advocated service to society as the highest form of devotion. His message reached beyond divisions of caste, creed and region, leaving a lasting impact on millions. Institutions founded under his leadership continue to carry forward his vision.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi conveyed sorrow over a fatal mishap at a power facility in Chhattisgarh, where several workers lost their lives, and many others sustained injuries. He announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
PM Modi also offered his condolences to the bereaved families and wished those injured a speedy recovery, adding that authorities on the ground are extending necessary support.
The visit underlines the government’s intent to honour spiritual icons while reinforcing cultural values and social responsibility.
