PM Modi To Address IATA AGM; Highlight India’s Aviation Ambitions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the 81st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on Monday at approximately 5 PM at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Alongside global aviation leaders, PM Modi will address the gathering, emphasising India’s growing role in the aviation sector and its commitment to world-class air infrastructure.

Ahead of his speech, the Prime Minister posted on X, “At 5 PM today, I will be addressing the AGM of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) being held at Bharat Mandapam. Leading stakeholders from the world of aviation are attending this meeting.”

Historic Hosting After 42 Years

India is hosting the IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit (WATS) after a 42-year gap—the country last hosted the meeting in 1983.

Scheduled from 1 to 3 June, this year’s edition draws over 1,600 participants, including industry executives, senior government officials, and international media, all converging to discuss the future of air transport.

PM Modi’s presence underlines India’s dedication to enhancing air connectivity as a catalyst for economic development and inclusive growth.

His address will spotlight the nation’s ambitions to build robust aviation infrastructure, making air travel more accessible and efficient for citizens and businesses alike.

The summit will focus on vital issues confronting the aviation industry worldwide.

Discussions will encompass the economics of airline operations, improving air connectivity domestically and internationally, energy security, and the critical role of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in decarbonising the sector.

Additionally, financing mechanisms for green aviation and technological innovation will feature prominently on the agenda.

India’s role as host signals its emergence as a key player in global aviation. The country’s rapid growth in passenger numbers, airport infrastructure, and airline capacity sets the stage for transformative discussions at the summit.

The event will also provide a platform for India to share its experiences and policies promoting sustainable growth in aviation.

The IATA AGM and WATS in New Delhi will foster collaboration among governments, airlines, and industry partners.

PM Modi’s address will reinforce India’s vision for an aviation sector that drives economic progress, upholds environmental responsibility, and strengthens global connectivity.

Through hosting this landmark event and his participation, the Prime Minister reaffirms India’s commitment to shaping the future of air transport, benefiting not only the nation but the global community.
