PM Modi Thanks Italian PM Giorgia Meloni For Birthday Wishes; Reaffirms Strong India-Italy Ties

PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for her warm wishes on his 75th birthday. He expressed his appreciation for Italy’s friendship and said he looked forward to strengthening bilateral ties further.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Thank you Prime Minister Meloni for your warm wishes. Deeply appreciate Italy’s friendship and look forward to strengthening it further.”

Meloni Praises PM Modi’s Leadership

Meloni extended heartfelt birthday greetings to PM Modi, wishing him health and energy to continue leading India toward a bright future.

Happy 75th birthday to the Indian Prime Minister @narendramodi. His strength, his determination, and his ability to lead millions of people are a source of inspiration. With friendship and esteem, I wish him health and energy to continue leading India toward a bright future and to further strengthen the relations between our Nations,” she posted. 

Leaders Reaffirm Strategic Partnership

On September 10, PM Modi held a telephonic conversation with Meloni. Both leaders reaffirmed their joint commitment to deepening the India-Italy Strategic Partnership and expressed support for the AI Impact Summit that India will host in 2026.

PM Modi thanked Meloni for her support in concluding the India-EU trade agreement and in promoting connectivity through the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEEC) initiative.

During their conversation, both leaders exchanged views on regional and global matters. They agreed on the importance of an early and peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

PM Modi reiterated India’s full support for all efforts aimed at peace.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) stated that both leaders positively assessed the progress made in the bilateral Strategic Partnership across multiple sectors, including investment, defence, security, space, science and technology, education, counter-terrorism, and people-to-people ties.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen cooperation under the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–29.

PM Modi last met Meloni in June on the sidelines of the 51st G7 Summit in Canada, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening India-Italy relations.
