PM Modi Targets Congress Over ‘Appeasement Politics’ At Assam Rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a strong attack on the Indian National Congress, accusing it of appeasement politics and prioritising power over national interest and the rights of indigenous people.

Addressing a large public rally in Barpeta, PM Modi alleged that the Congress had supported infiltration for electoral gains, leading to large-scale encroachment on land belonging to local communities.

The Prime Minister claimed that past policies of the Congress had enabled infiltration, resulting in infiltrators occupying vast stretches of land owned by indigenous people in Assam. He said this was a consequence of vote bank politics.

Drawing a contrast, the Prime Minister asserted that the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the state are working with determination to reclaim such land and restore the rights of native populations.

PM Modi added that the government is taking strict action against illegal encroachments and infiltrators, while remaining committed to safeguarding Assam’s land, culture and identity.

The Prime Minister also accused the Congress of opposing government action against illegal infiltration, alleging that its leaders support those who have unlawfully occupied land. He warned that if Congress returns to power, it may attempt to introduce laws portraying infiltrators as victims to protect its vote bank.

Emphasising vigilance, PM Modi urged the people of Assam to remain cautious of what he described as misleading narratives from the opposition. He said that voting decisions would play a crucial role in protecting land, identity, and the future of the state.

Calling for continued support, the Prime Minister appealed to voters to back the BJP to ensure sustained efforts in addressing infiltration-related challenges.
