PM Modi Stresses Life Skills And Professional Competence At Pariksha Pe Charcha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held an energetic and wide-ranging interaction with students, teachers and parents during the ninth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha, underlining the crucial role of life skills and professional competence in shaping successful careers and meaningful lives.

Responding to questions from students such as Aryan Sharma from Raipur and Priya Kumari from Guwahati, PM Modi said life skills are indispensable for handling everyday challenges.

He explained that academic knowledge alone cannot prepare individuals for real-life situations, stressing the need to internalise practical abilities such as decision-making, adaptability and problem-solving.

“Life skills are essential,” the Prime Minister said, noting that lack of preparedness often makes simple tasks difficult, and urged students to continuously update their professional skills.

Using examples from medicine and law, PM Modi said books lay the foundation, but hands-on experience and continuous learning create true expertise.

He noted that doctors become specialists by working closely with patients, not just by excelling in exams, while aspiring lawyers must gain courtroom experience under senior advocates to build professional competence.

Stressing that there can be ‘no compromise on life skills’, he said professionals must constantly upgrade their skills, particularly in an era of rapid technological change.

Held at 10 AM, the event followed a pan-India format, connecting the Prime Minister with students from Devmogra, Coimbatore, Raipur and Guwahati, as well as from his residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.

Broadcasters aired the programme live across multiple platforms, and it attracted record participation.

According to official data, over 6.76 crore participants joined the programme, reflecting growing awareness around exam stress and the need for holistic guidance.
