PM Modi Slams Congress Over Operation Sindoor Criticism In Lok Sabha Speech

In a fiery speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress party of demoralising India’s armed forces by continually casting doubt on the country’s military operations.

Addressing criticism surrounding Operation Sindoor, which took place from 7 to 10 May, PM Modi said that Congress has repeatedly attempted to undermine the nation’s counter-terror resolve.

“First They Demanded Proof, Now They Question Why We Stopped”

Referring to past Congress statements on the Balakot and surgical strikes, PM Modi pointed out the shifting narratives.

“One Congress leader claimed three surgical strikes were carried out, another said six, then nine, then fifteen — the number kept increasing with their seniority,” he quipped, drawing laughter and applause from the treasury benches.

“Earlier they asked for photo proof, now they’re asking why we stopped Operation Sindoor. The entire country is laughing at them.”

PM Modi drew parallels with the 2019 Balakot operation, during which Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistan.

“When our pilot was in enemy hands, Pakistan was happy. But sadly, so were some Congress leaders. They thought ‘Modi is finished’. But we brought Abhinandan back safely,” he stated.

Operation Mahadev and Latest Attacks Cited

Highlighting the recent Operation Mahadev — in which security forces eliminated terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack — PM Modi criticised the Congress for questioning the operation’s timing.

The strike occurred on 28 June, coinciding with Parliament debates on Operation Sindoor. “Even successful counter-terrorism missions are met with suspicion from Congress,” he noted.

The Prime Minister praised the armed forces for thwarting a massive drone and missile attack by Pakistan on 9 May.

“Our security systems intercepted and destroyed nearly 1,000 drones and missiles. This is a testimony to our preparedness,” he declared.

PM Modi also took aim at the Congress’s long-standing approach to national security.

“They ruled for decades but never trusted the Home Minister, Foreign Minister, or Defence Minister. Their trust always aligned with Pakistan’s remote control.”

Further emphasising the government’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism, PM Modi said India will continue to defend its sovereignty with strength and clarity.

“While the world recognises India’s strategic maturity, some in the Opposition remain trapped in outdated politics.”
