PM Modi Set To Headline BJP’s Grand Rally In Kolkata Ahead Of Assembly Polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address a major public meeting convened by the West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata next month, party leaders said.

The event is being viewed as a key moment in the party’s campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.

While the specific date has yet to be confirmed, party functionaries indicated that a formal announcement will likely follow the Holi festival on March 4.

The declaration is anticipated to align with the Election Commission of India’s announcement. It will relate to the schedule for the state Assembly polls.

In preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit, the BJP’s state leadership plans to roll out a series of ‘Ratha Yatras’ across various organisational districts. These campaigns are intended to build momentum and inform voters about the forthcoming rally in Kolkata.

Before the mega event, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will travel to West Bengal later this month. His visit will centre on an official Border Security Force programme, but he is also expected to hold a strategic meeting with senior state party leaders. No public address has been scheduled during this trip.

Structured Approach to Candidate Selection

At the same time, the state BJP has begun compiling its recommendations for candidates. These recommendations will cover all 294 Assembly constituencies.

For every seat, the unit intends to send two separate panels to the central leadership. One panel will include three preferred nominees, while the other will list three individuals considered unsuitable.

Party sources said the approach is designed to make the selection process more systematic. They added that it will also ensure greater transparency before the high command takes a final decision.

The party’s state leadership is reportedly focusing on leaders with strong local connections. It is avoiding excessive dependence on prominent personalities from the entertainment industry.

The strategy reflects a renewed focus on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level.

With the Prime Minister’s proposed rally at Brigade Parade Ground expected to attract considerable attention, the BJP appears poised to accelerate its election campaign across West Bengal in the coming weeks.
