PM Modi Reviews Uttarkashi Cloudburst Aftermath With Uttarakhand MPs; Assures Full Support

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Members of Parliament from Uttarakhand on Wednesday to assess the aftermath of the devastating twin cloudbursts in the Dharali region of Uttarkashi.

During the meeting at Parliament House, MPs Anil Baluni, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Trivendra Singh Rawat, and Ajay Bhatt briefed the Prime Minister on the current conditions and the status of rescue operations in the affected areas.

PM Modi emphasised the importance of remaining closely connected with local communities. He instructed the MPs to maintain direct contact with people in their constituencies, ensure swift support to those impacted by the ongoing heavy rainfall, and monitor landslide-prone zones.

MPs Share Insights After PM Meeting

Garhwal MP Anil Baluni shared on social media after the meeting that the Prime Minister felt ‘deeply pained’ by the disaster. He added that PM Modi was closely monitoring the relief and rescue efforts.

Taking to X, he posted, “The Honourable Prime Minister is deeply pained, grief-stricken, and distressed by this severe calamity in Uttarkashi. He is personally overseeing the continuous review of relief and rescue operations. He stated that all agencies of the Central Government and the State Government are fully engaged with utmost urgency in the tasks of relief, rescue, and rehabilitation.”

Baluni shared that PM Modi reiterated the Centre’s unwavering support for all those affected by the disaster, including residents of Dharali.

He also added that the Central Government is extending all necessary help to Uttarakhand for effective disaster response and recovery.

“The Honourable Prime Minister Ji urged all MPs to stay in contact with the people living in areas affected by heavy rainfall and landslides in their Lok Sabha constituencies and to make every effort to ensure all possible assistance is provided to them,” Baluni noted.

As per IANS, Tehri Garhwal MP Mala Rajyalaxmi Shah asserted, “There is a lot of destruction, it’s a very painful and distressing situation. The heavy rainfall is continuing in the entire state, and the situation is devastating. Rescue operations are also underway amid a difficult situation.”

Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt also expressed confidence in the Centre’s continued involvement.

“PM Modi and HM Shah are continuously monitoring the situation. Officials have deployed NDRF and SDRF teams to the affected areas and stationed nearly all available health teams. The Army is also actively carrying out prompt rescue and relief operations,” he said.
